Terms and Conditions for Haaga-Helia Online

These terms & conditions apply to anyone purchasing an online course from Haaga-Helia University of Applied Sciences at website haagaheliaonline.fi or visiting the website. These terms and conditions are a contract between you and Haaga-Helia University of Applied Sciences. Therefore you should read these terms and conditions carefully.

All online courses are provided by Haaga-Helia University of Applied Sciences, Ratapihantie 13, 00520 Helsinki, Finland, business ID 2029188-8.

All of the online courses on the website provided by Haaga-Helia University of Applied (hereinafter “Haaga-Helia”) are subject to the following conditions:

1. General

This website and all features thereof are owned and operated by Haaga-Helia. Haaga-Helia may change the content of the website, including but not limited to, prices and offers of each course provided by Haaga-Helia at any time at its own initiative. Haaga-Helia does not provide a warranty or guarantee of the accuracy, completeness, suitability, timeliness or performance of information or content on the website. If there are errors in the information provided in the content of the website Haaga-Helia expressly excludes liability for these inaccuracies to the fullest extent permitted by law.
Courses and the material thereto may be either in English or Finnish language. Haaga-Helia does not accept any liability for any losses, costs or expenses incurred by you in connection with insufficient language ability.

You agree to follow any of Haaga-Helia’s policies and regulations regarding the use of the website and the courses, including course material. Such policies and regulations may be amended and changed from time to time by the sole discretion of Haaga-Helia.

2. Cookies

This website uses cookies. Haaga-Helia uses cookies for the operation of the website, to personalise content and ads, to provide social media features and to analyse traffic on the website. Haaga-Helia also shares information about your use of site with Haaga-Helia’s social media, advertising and analytics partners who may combine it with other information that you’ve provided to them or that they’ve collected from your use of their services.

3. Course material

Haaga-Helia places the courses shown on the website at your disposal under these terms and conditions. The course material shall be at your disposal for 6-12 months depending on the course. The details of each course are displayed on the website. After completing the course, the course material will no longer be available to you.

You can use any of the information or content at your own risk. Haaga-Helia shall not be liable for the suitability or feasibility of the course material to fulfil your personal expectations.
Haaga-Helia may, without asking your approval or permission, improve, amend, delete or otherwise change the course material whenever Haaga-Helia so decides.

Haaga-Helia shall not be liable for the correctness of any pieces of information in the course material or on the website provided by a third party, if any.

4. Price of courses

All prices for the courses are shown on the website. Haaga-Helia reserves the right and discretion to change the prices at any time. Please check the website for up-to-date prices before you purchase.

Subject to your jurisdiction and customer type (private or corporate customer), value added tax or any other public tax or remuneration shall be added in the price.

5. How to purchase a course

A purchase can be made online on our website haagaheliaonline.fi. In order to place an order, you must be at least 18 years old.

The purchase of the course starts by adding the course to the cart. When you have all the desired courses in the cart, you proceed to checkout. At the checkout page you are asked to tick a box where you accept these terms and conditions. You also confirm that the course material shall be provided to you under the Consumer Act, Section 6, paragraph 15, sub-paragraph 2, which means you shall not have a possibility to cancel the purchase under the Consumer Act, Section 6, paragraph 16, sub-paragraph 1.1. By clicking ‘Place order’ button, you make a binding order.

You must make full payment at the time of purchase. Haaga-Helia does not accept partial payments. If you have a coupon entitling discount of the course price, you should enter coupon code before the payment.

After placing an order, you will receive an order confirmation and receipt of your payment to your email. Haaga-Helia will also create a user account for you and send a separate email with login details and instructions how to register and manage your account. If you do not receive an order confirmation please contact us at online@haaga-helia.fi.

Once Haaga-Helia has received your payment for the course Haaga-Helia will provide the course material at your disposal on your account. If you’re ordering a course for multiple users, Haaga-Helia will contact you after your purchase.

6. Payment methods

You have payment buttons for all Finnish banks. You can also pay with Visa, MasterCard and American Express cards. Credit card payments may be subject to a fee.

The payment service provider is Paytrail Plc. At the payment you shall be transferred to Paytrail Plc’s payment services. Paytrail Plc acts as a collecting payment service provider and is an authorized Payment Institution. Paytrail Plc will be shown as the recipient on your bank or credit card statement. Your credit card data will not be stored on our website. Paytrail Plc will forward the payment to the merchant. For reclamations, please contact the website the payment was made to:

If you order a course on behalf of an organisation, you can also choose the invoice as the payment method.

7. Cancelling a purchase

Once you have completed the payment you shall not be allowed to cancel the courses or the payment thereof. Please refer to Section 5 of these terms and conditions where reference is made to the Consumer Act, Section 6, paragraph 15, sub-paragraph 2 and paragraph 16, sub-paragraph 1.1.

8. Your account

Haaga-Helia shall provide to your account the course material and a certificate for the completed courses. From your account you can also view your recent orders, manage your billing address, and edit your password and account details.

You are responsible for the accuracy of your personal details. You may not give or otherwise dispose to any other person of your personal information, including a possible login details, to obtain course material.

If you haven’t used your account for more than two years, Haaga-Helia can delete your account and all the information there.

9. Certificate

Once you have completed the course you shall receive a certificate of completion of the course.

10. Contacts

Please be aware that Haaga-Helia does the best to respond to contact emails as quickly as possible. This includes emails sent to online@haaga-helia.fi and any of the forms on our website. Haaga-Helia has very high customer service expectations and will endeavour to reply to your contact email as soon as possible. Please note that sometimes spam filters do not allow emails into your system. Therefore please check your junk/spam folders and the settings on your email client. Haaga-Helia does not take responsibility for non-receipt of emails due to filters/junk or spam folders on your email client.

11. Intellectual property rights

Haaga-Helia owns all patents, patent applications, trademarks and tradenames as well as any and all other intellectual property rights related to the courses and the website. All materials on the website, including but not limited to content, images, layout, graphics, design and appearance, belong to Haaga-Helia. Should the website contain data, material or information of a third party such data, material or information is protected by the intellectual property rights of the third party.

You may use the course material only for the purpose you have purchased it for. You may not copy, reproduce, modify, store, redistribute or exploit the material without Haaga-Helia’s prior written permission. Should you fail to comply with these terms related to intellectual property rights you may either commit a criminal offense and/or face a liability to pay damages to Haaga-Helia.

12. Processing of personal data

Your privacy is important for us and Haaga-Helia complies with and acts in accordance with the EU General Data Protection Regulation (2016/679) and any other applicable data protection legislation in force when processing your personal data.

Your personal data is collected and stored to us when you make a purchase and the account is opened. Personal data is used e.g. to process your order and for communications. You can find more information concerning the processing of your personal data from Haaga-Helia’s Privacy notice.

13. Complaints

Haaga-Helia as a trustworthy institute of higher education, is making its best to achieve high quality in all its teaching and learning materials, including online materials and virtual courses. Therefore, we are assured that you will have an overall confidence and satisfaction to products you have purchased from us.

If, at any time, you are unhappy with the Haaga-Helia service then please contact us immediately at online@haaga-helia.fi and we will endeavour to respond as quickly as possible but no more than 30 days following the receipt of your complaint.

14. Limitation of Liability

In addition to what is said elsewhere in these terms and conditions, the following applies to any damages related to course material:

Haaga-Helia shall not guarantee uninterrupted service on the website and you may not claim for any damages for any intended or unintended interruptions.

Haaga-Helia is not liable for any loss or additional expense caused by force majeure situations which represent unusual or unforeseeable circumstances, including but not limited to strikes, war, terrorist activities, riots, natural disasters, pandemic situations, nuclear disasters, fire, flood or adverse weather conditions.

Haaga-Helia is not liable for any indirect or consequential damages. In every case the maximum amount of the damages is the value you have paid for the course material which you claim to have caused the damage.

15. Changes to Terms and Conditions

Haaga-Helia reserves the right to change any of the terms and conditions at any time deemed necessary without your prior approval.

16. Severance

In the event that any provision of these terms and conditions is declared invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in full force and effect.

17. Law and its Jurisdiction

These terms and conditions and any dispute or claim arising out of and in connection with them or their subject matter (including no contractual disputes or claims) shall be governed by and shall be construed in accordance with the laws of Finland. Any dispute or controversy related to these terms and conditions and the relation between you and Haaga-Helia shall be settled by the District Court of Helsinki, Finland.
